At it's peak it was the largest independent operator in Greater Manchester, with a fleet of over 100 buses. Stretching from St Helens to Stockport, and Preston to Sale, its varied fleet covered a vast part of the Greater Manchester conurbation, serving a population some one million people.
That company was Blue Bus, a small independent that started life on a former railway works in Horwich. A company that defied the odds and rapidly grew, taking on the competition, and even in one case, bought them out!! The company even took on Yorkshire, forming a network centring on Huddersfield.
